Lake Superior College will hold its annual Student Success Day on Wednesday, October 1 from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. on its main campus.
The conference style signature event, which started in 2008, offers a wide range of sessions and activities designed to foster academic, personal, and professional growth in every aspect of a student’s college journey. 91ɬÂþ faculty and staff team up with community partners from Aspirus-St. Lukes, Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development, Essentia Health, AmeriCorps, MNsure, LeadMN, Affinity Plus, and more to offer engaging and informative sessions.
The 91ɬÂþ Auto Club will perform free auto checks for 91ɬÂþ students throughout the day. The 91ɬÂþ Surgical Technology Club will run a mock surgery of a simulated cesarean section of twins. The 91ɬÂþ Fire Club will offer a tour of their vehicle and equipment, and more 91ɬÂþ clubs will be highlighted during the Student Club Showcase in the afternoon. The break-out session topics include the arts, community engagement, financial literacy, health and wellness, technology, travel, and transferring to a four-year institution.
"What makes Student Success Day so valuable is the incredible collaboration between our campus and community," said Nicola Scott, Director of the Tutoring and Learning Center and event organizer. "In a single day, students can access resources, build skills, and make connections that support their success throughout their entire college journey and career. It's exciting to see our faculty and staff, along with many organizations, invest their time and expertise in our students' futures."
Students will enjoy a free lunch, a nature trail hike, a ping-pong tournament, a choir performance, the popular clothing swap, vendor/partner exhibits, open labs, and networking during this 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. break from regular classes.
