Winter Safety Tips...Slow and Steady
We would like to remind everyone to be safe while on campus during the winter months. No matter how well the snow and ice are removed from sidewalks and parking lots, people may encounter some slippery surfaces.
- Take your time
- Select appropriate footwear – flat footwear with rubber soles provides best traction
- Keep both hands out of pockets for balance
- Avoid taking shortcuts. Use Main Entrances only to enter/exit buildings, not side entrances.
- Hold onto your vehicle when going in/out for support
- Be sure to use floor mats when entering a building to remove moisture from your shoes

‘Tis The Season for Feeling Stressed Out
The end of the semester, finals, managing holiday expectations or feelings of loneliness, and seasonal depression can take a toll on mental health and well-being. The good news is that there are practical ways we can reduce stress during this hectic time of the year!
- Exercise or stretch—any movement helps! Remember to eat and hydrate.
- Give yourself breaks and celebrate accomplishments!
- Stay connected; consider joining a group or finding a workout partner.
- Ask for help from peers, family, friends, and other supportive people in your life.
- Know when to seek help. Employees can access therapy through the EAP. Please connect with HR for more information.
Helping students connect with support: Free and confidential mental health care on campus with Amy Fullerton, LPCC or [email protected] or through our virtual provider, .

Holiday Phishing
With the holidays approaching, phishing attacks often increase, targeting your inbox with scams designed to steal your personal data.
- Be cautious of messages that create a sense of urgency, offer fake job opportunities, or pressure you to ignore security protocols.
- Watch out for emails claiming to be from a President, Dean, or supervisor asking for personal information or secrecy.
- Messages requesting you to "renew" or "confirm" your StarID or account details are also likely scams.
- Be suspicious of calls or emails pretending to be official organizations demanding immediate action.
- Avoid interacting with QR codes in messages, as they bypass phishing controls.
Remember, phishing attempts can happen via email, phone, or text.
